The Arizona Cardinals are back on the field at training camp, which means its content team is at it again with a new installment of Cardinals Flight Plan.
The new episode of the team’s YouTube series released Wednesday gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at the start of training camp.
It starts with rookies and quarterbacks arriving to camp first, with star quarterback Kyler Murray showing up with his hands full.
The young quarterback gifted Arizona owner Michael Bidwill with a portrait of Bidwill’s late father, Bill Bidwill, surrounded by a number of Cardinals greats.
“That is awesome. They capture his smile and his everything, perfectly. He’s got his bowtie on there — clearly he tied it himself, a little crooked, it’s kind of fun,” Michael Bidwill said. “A lot of great memories. That’s the way he admired the players, he loved the players and loved being around the game. Miss him a lot. I miss him every day.”
In the next segment, the Cardinals finally took to the field to start some conditioning.
“This is really exciting, just all the preparation that’s going in cause I know this is about to be a real serious phase that we’re entering,” rookie cornerback Marco Wilson said. “I just want to learn as much as possible, I want to get as much knowledge as possible.”
Fans get an inside look at the start of training camp and the arrivals of new Cardinals J.J. Watt, A.J. Green and James Connor. After seeing all the fresh new faces, viewers were introduced to one of the team’s rookie draft picks, cornerback Tay Gowan.
Ahead of the first meeting, Bidwill addressed the group.
“Every single person in this room, whether you’re a rookie, a veteran, a veteran free agent, or a veteran that we traded for, you’re handpicked,” he said. “Just because you’re a rookie doesn’t mean you can’t be a leader. We really need you to bring that leadership to your room, to the sidelines, to practices and make sure we’re the most disciplined team in the National Football League.”
