Edmonds: Cardinals’ Kyler Murray more comfortable throwing into tight windows

The gifts that made Kyler Murray the No. 1 draft pick in 2019 had to do with his rushing abilities, for sure. But it was how his knack for scrambling combined with a powerful arm and a baseball background that made the Arizona Cardinals’ selection of him unorthodox rather than risky.
He has flashed elite arm stuff in games and practices, but Cardinals running back Chase Edmonds believes Murray’s confidence is leading to those high-level throws popping up more often heading into the quarterback’s third season.
“Just looking at K1’s growth man, the one thing I noticed so much … is just how much more comfortable he is in super tight windows,” Edmonds told CBS Sports host Jim Rome on The Jim Rome Show. “You’re seeing super next-level stuff where he’s spinning certain balls and certain crosses right into these deep, tight windows where you don’t think it’s possible.”
The complementary answer from Edmonds came after Rome asked the running back about a tweet from Monday regarding a pass that Murray threw in practice.

Edmonds said the play wowed him during a replay session.
Though the running back didn’t appreciate it live, watching Murray fit a ball into a tight space despite solid coverage from the Cardinals’ defensive backs led Edmonds’ jaw to drop.
“After every practice, (head coach Kliff Kingsbury) … always posts some clips of whether its a great effort, what we need to work on,” Edmonds said. “(Kingsbury) was really pointing out (Budda Baker’s) effort, that Budda was helping make a play on the ball.
“We were practicing the play and K1 was rolling out to his right, and he was full rolling out on his right and he was on the run,” the running back added. “He threw this ball where it was on the run but he also faded to the right. It was an absolute dime right to Rondale Moore. … I was just in a team meeting and I looked at Budda, and I said, ‘Did you see that damn dime he just threw?'”
