During the Phoenix Mercury’s 84-69 win on Saturday against the Atlanta Dream, Diana Taurasi became the first player in WNBA history to surpass 9,000 career points and 2,000 career assists.

Taurasi reached 9,000 points back on June 27 and entered Saturday’s contest needing two assists to reach 2,000 for her career. She doubled that, recording four against the Dream.

After winning her fifth-straight Olympic gold medal this month at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Taurasi continues to add on to her storied career.

She is already the WNBA’s all-time leading scorer and is No. 5 overall in assists. No other player is in the top five of both categories.

With the win, the Mercury improved to 13-10 on the young season and are currently on a four-game winning streak. They are currently in fourth place in the Western Conference, but have the fifth-best overall record in the WNBA.
