It’s prediction season galore with college football set to kick off this weekend and three experts in the sport predict a bowl berth for the Arizona State Sun Devils.
In ESPN’s preseason bowl game predictions, Kyle Bonagura and Mark Schlabach see a bowl game in the future for ASU. However, it’s fair to say the two project different results in the season for Herm Edwards’ squad.
Bonagura has the Sun Devils in an earlier bowl game, meeting with the Pittsburgh Panthers of the ACC on Dec. 28 in the San Diego County Credit Union Holiday Bowl. The game will be played at Petco Park with kick off scheduled for 5 p.m. MST and coverage on FOX.
With Schlabach’s bowl prediction, it’s safe to say he has higher hopes for ASU than Bonagura.
Schlabach has the Sun Devils facing Big Ten power, Michigan, in the SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl on Dec. 30. That game is to be played at Allegiant Stadium at 7:30 p.m. MST with coverage on ESPN.
Circulating through more preseason bowl predictions, the Action Network’s Brett McMurphy sees a similar outcome for the Sun Devils.
Like Bonagura, McMurphy also has ASU playing its eventual bowl game at Petco Park in the Holiday Bowl. McMurphy has the Sun Devils playing the NC State Wolfpack in a game that will feature a Pac-12 school and an ACC school.
The three college football experts don’t have any Pac-12 schools making the College Football Playoff. However, all three have the Oregon Ducks playing in a New Years Six bowl game.
Bonagura and Schlabach have Southern California penciled in for a NY6 bowl as well, but McMurphy doesn’t see that for the Trojans. Instead, he has the Utah Utes going to the Rose Bowl, while USC gets an invite to the Valero Alamo Bowl.
