Phoenix Mercury center Brittney Griner has been ruled out of Friday night’s game against the New York Liberty.

Griner exited in the final minutes of Wednesday’s game against New York with an ankle injury. She scored 26 points and grabbed nine rebounds in Phoenix’s 106-79 victory.

She was originally ruled as questionable before being declared out hours before tipoff.

It will be Phoenix’s first game without Griner this season. Griner was one of four players who had started every game until Friday. She leads the team with 33.6 minutes played per game.

Griner has been a consistent performer for the Mercury this season, scoring at least 13 points in each of Phoenix’s last eight games. She has scored less than 10 points in only two games this season.

Griner’s 20.7 points per game ranks second in the WNBA. She also ranks in the top five in rebounds (9.8) and field goal percentage (57.9%).
