The Arizona Diamondbacks’ tilt with the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday was delayed due to COVID-19 contact tracing for the Phillies, according to NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Jim Salisbury.
The game in Philadelphia was delayed from a 4 p.m. start to 4:30 p.m., with the Phillies placing three players on the COVID-related injured list a little over a half-hour before the originally scheduled first pitch time.
One of the three players was Phillies catcher Andrew Knapp, who was in the Phillies’ lineup hitting eighth in the batting order. Philadelphia’s revised lineup had J.T. Realmuto in place of Knapp.
The game did indeed get underway at 4:30 p.m.
The D-backs were coming off an 8-7 win against the Phillies on Thursday night in the series opener. D-backs first baseman Christian Walker was 4-for-4 in his hometown.
Friday’s game can be heard on ESPN 620 AM and 98.7 FM HD-2.
