Cardinals create scholarship to honor kicker Krysten Muir

The Arizona Cardinals are partnering with the Desert Financial Foundation to present a scholarship to graduating Arizona high school seniors.
The 2021 Arizona Breaking Barriers Student Athlete Scholarship will be presented to 10 student-athletes. Each recipient will receive a $3,000 scholarship.
The scholarship honors Krysten Muir, a former kicker for Marcos de Niza High School. She became the first female to score a point in an AIA state championship game during the 2015 Division II title game.
Muir suffered partial paralysis after a car accident in January. She recovered after multiple surgeries and regained the ability to walk.
The scholarship is designed to honor graduating student-athletes in Arizona who share Muir’s resilience and determination. Muir will select one of the 10 recipients to become the Krysten Muir Scholar.
The Cardinals will honor all 10 recipients at a future home game.
In addition to being a graduating high school senior, applicants must also maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher and plan to attend a college or university in Arizona.
The application period for the 2021 Arizona Breaking Barriers Student Athlete Scholarship begins Wednesday.
