Prior to the Arizona Diamondbacks series finale against the Seattle Mariners, outfielder Henry Ramos has been called up to join the major league club while Stuart Fairchild was optioned down to Triple-A Reno, the team announced.
He's spent 11 seasons in the minors.
This year, he led all full-season minor leaguers in batting average.

After 11 seasons in the minors, Ramos finally gets his chance in the majors after leading all full-season minor leaguers in batting average at .371.
Ramos wasn’t just hitting singles during his time with Reno either. In 75 games, he’s hit 12 homers and drove in 57 RBIs, while adding 16 doubles and a triple.
The D-backs signed Ramos as a minor league free agent on May 19. Throughout his 11 year career in the minors after signing with the Boston Red Sox in 2010, the outfielder has over 3,000 at-bats.
Ramos was in the news as recently as Friday, after hitting a two-run homer for the Aces against the Tacoma Rainiers that led to a benches-clearing altercation.
As for Fairchild, the outfielder was optioned down to Reno after starting Saturday night’s loss against the Mariners. Playing in right field, Fairchild went 1-for-2 with a two-run double.
For the season, Fairchild has just two hits in 15 at-bats. The two runs he drove in Saturday night were his lone RBIs of the year.
