The Arizona Diamondbacks reinstated outfielder Kole Calhoun and placed infielder/outfielder Seth Beer on the 10-day injured list.
Calhoun spent two-and-a-half months on the IL due to a strained left hamstring, returning in mid-July, only to go back on the injured list in mid-August once again due to a strained left hamstring. He also missed a handful of games at the start of the season after having surgery on his meniscus.
The 33-year-old Calhoun has played in 36 games this season, hitting .238 with three home runs and six RBIs.
For Friday’s game in Houston against the Astros, Calhoun is batting fifth as the designated hitter.
Beer exited Tuesday’s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers after suffering a dislocated left shoulder. The rookie made his major league debut on Sept. 10, hitting a pinch-hit solo homer in his first career at-bat.
In his first two starts, Beer was 3-for-7 from the plate with a double, two RBIs and a walk.
Friday’s game has a 5:10 p.m. first pitch and can be heard on ESPN 620 AM/98.7 FM HD-2.
