Russ Grimm says Cardinals must be able to run the ball

The Arizona Cardinals ran for the fewest yards of anyone in the NFL last season, tallying just 1,388 over the course of 16 games.

So, it should come as no surprise that Russ Grimm, assistant head coach and offensive line coach, feels the team needs to improve on the ground.

“You’ve got to be able to run the ball,” Grimm told Sports 620 KTAR’s Doug and Wolf Wednesday.

Grimm talked about how head coach Ken Whisenhunt would prefer a balanced offensive attack, but that situations dictated the team throw more than they would have liked. Being down two or three touchdowns will do that, though one could argue a propensity to throw early and often helped put the Cardinals behind in the first place.
