Arizona State running back DeaMonte “Chip” Trayanum will not play on Saturday against the BYU Cougars, per SunDevilSource.com.
According to the report, defensive back D.J. Taylor will also miss Saturday’s contest.
Both players made the trip to Provo, Utah, but are wearing walking boots.
Trayanum will now miss his second straight game after missing last week against UNLV.
In 41-14 win against Southern Utah, he rushed six times for 52 yards and two touchdowns, but did not catch a pass in the contest.
Trayanum is a part of a two-headed backfield with Rachaad White sharing reps.
With the injury, Sun Devil fans should expect to see White carry the load but see carries given to third stringer Daniyel Ngata.
Ngata rushed six times for 64 yards and a score last week.
Another major component to the ASU run game is quarterback Jayden Daniels, who rushed the ball 13 times for 125 yards in the 37-10 win over UNLV.
This will be Arizona State’s first matchup against a ranked opponent in the 2021 campaign.
