Arizona Cardinals rookie cornerback Marco Wilson left the game with an ankle injury in the second quarter of the Week 2 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.
Wilson’s return to the game was ruled as questionable, and he would not return.
The fourth-round pick out of Florida picked up the injury on the Vikings’ third drive of the game.
Wilson played 91% of Arizona’s defensive snaps in his NFL debut in Week 1 against the Tennessee Titans, having to cover seven-time Pro Bowler Julio Jones several times. He turned heads in training camp and is expected to player a key role for the Cardinals secondary.
“Marco Wilson, (I) watched him through the spring and in camp, I knew he can play,” defensive coordinator Vance Joseph told the media on Friday. “But, sometimes it’s too big for young guys early and it wasn’t. It wasn’t perfect, guys. But he was relaxed, and he was playing against good people. And he challenged.”
The Cardinals beat the Vikings 34-33.
Practice squad call-up Antonio Hamilton played 31 snaps as a slot receiver as Byron Murphy and Robert Alford handled outside duties with Wilson sidelined.
