Meyer: Jaguars’ Laviska Shenault ‘should play’ in Week 3 vs. Cardinals

Sep 20, 2021, 11:54 AM | Updated: 11:56 am

Jaguars wide receiver Laviska Shenault Jr. “should be back” when Jacksonville takes on the Arizona Cardinals this Sunday, head coach Urban Meyer told reporters Monday.

Shenault sustained a shoulder injury in the team’s 23-13 loss to the Denver Broncos in Week 2.

The wideout reportedly underwent an MRI on Monday and the issue turned out to be minor, per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

Shenault finished with two catches (seven targets) for -3 yards on Sunday. He played 80% of the team’s offensive snaps and only trailed Marvin Jones (88%) among wide receivers.

Despite being second on the Jaguars in targets (17), Shenault has just nine catches for 47 yards this season.

The Jaguars will need all hands on deck after starting out 0-2 on the year. It’s been a bit of a learning curve for No. 1 overall pick and quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who has completed 50% (42-of-84) of his passes for 450 yards, four touchdowns and five interceptions.

Jacksonville is 27th in the NFL offensively in total yards per game (292) and tied for 28th with the Chicago Bears in points per game (17).

The Cardinals take on the Jaguars in Jacksonville at 10 a.m. on Sunday. Tune to 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station for all the action.
