Ahead of hosting the Atlanta Braves on Monday night, the Arizona Diamondbacks recalled pitcher Humberto Mejia from Triple-A Reno, the team announced.

In a corresponding move, pitcher Brandyn Sittinger was optioned down to Reno.

Mejia has pitched in two games for the D-backs in 2021, both starting on the mound. He’s thrown 11 innings in the two starts, giving up six runs on 14 hits.

The 24-year-old started the year at Double-A Amarillo and was later called up to Triple-A in June. The righty was acquired in 2020 as part of the Starling Marte trade with the Miami Marlins.

As for Sittinger, the 27-year-old has appeared in five games out of the D-backs bullpen. In 4.2 innings pitched, he’s given up four runs on five hits.

The D-backs elevated Sittinger to the major league roster on Sept. 7. It was his first time in the majors after spending five years in the minors.

Arizona opens up a four game set with the Braves starting Monday at 6:40 p.m. Catch all the action on 98.7 Arizona’s Sports Station.
