The Arizona Cardinals signed former Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Mazzi Wilkins to their practice squad on Wednesday.
The 6-foot Wilkins appeared in six games with the Buccaneers after going undrafted out of South Florida in 2019. He’s posted three tackles in NFL action, all during his rookie year.
Arizona gives Wilkins a look as its corner depth took a hit in Week 2 against the Minnesota Vikings. Rookie Marco Wilson exited the game with an ankle injury and did not return.
Wilson is listed as day-to-day.
With Wilson out, the Cardinals placed Byron Murphy and Robert Alford on the outside with practice squad call-up Antonio Hamilton earning time in the slot.
Hamilton played 31 defensive snaps, good for 51% of the total plays available in the win against the Minnesota Vikings.
After those three cornerbacks, the Cardinals have veteran Luq Barcoo and rookie Tay Gowan on the 53-man roster.
Arizona has five-year pro Rasul Douglas and second-year man Jace Whittaker also on the practice squad as corner options.
