Ryder Cup: Jordan Spieth almost fell off the planet after insane chip shot

Sep 24, 2021, 9:42 AM | Updated: 9:47 am

The closeup shot of Jordan Spieth’s chip shot on the par-3 17th hole at Whistling Straits during the Ryder Cup looked very difficult.

On a grassy hill that was close to a 90-degree angle, he had to lift a ball straight up to get on the green after the tee shot went astray.

Well, after Spieth’s attempt, the context of what he was dealing with became even more clear. Physics took Spieth down that very steep hill he was standing upon, and he had to slam on the brakes as he scrambled down the hill before falling off what appeared to be a cliff overlooking Lake Michigan.

And that’s before it was revealed his ridiculous chip was actually very, very good.

Here’s how that shot was called by the TV crew.

“He’s coming backwards.”

“Careful.”

“Watch out.”

“We might lose him.”

“Oh, what a shot!”

“Holy smokes!”

“Can you believe that?”

Of course, after all that, it was on United States teammate Justin Thomas to sink the nice save from Spieth. Thomas did not.

That was the match, as the European duo of Jon Rahm and Sergio Garcia took the win, 3-1.
