The Arizona State Sun Devils will be without two key contributors against Colorado, with running back DeaMonte “Chip” Trayanum and defensive back Chase Lucas out, according to Doug Haller of The Athletic.

Lucas appeared to suffer a knee to the helmet area last week against BYU. A five-year starter and captain of the defense, Lucas has played in 46 career games for the Sun Devils. In three games to start the 2021 season, he has two pass breakups and seven tackles.

Trayanum will now miss his third straight game. Remaining in a walking boot, per DevilsDigest.com, the sophomore has yet to play since the Sun Devils’ opener against Southern Utah.

In the 41-14 win against Southern Utah, he rushed six times for 52 yards and two touchdowns, but did not catch a pass in the contest.

ASU will continue to rely on Rachaad White and Daniyel Ngata in the running game with the absence of Trayanum. Last week, White ran for 71 yards on 15 carries and a touchdown, while Ngata added 82 yards on eight attempts and a score of his own.

The Sun Devils look to open up conference play with a win over Colorado. Catch all the action on ESPN 620 AM or 98.7. FM HD-2 starting at 7:30p.m.
