ASU football to wear Mayan-inspired helmets for Hispanic Heritage Month

Arizona State football is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month by wearing new helmet decals against Stanford at Sun Devil Stadium on Friday.

The maroon shells will have an arrow outlined in gold and are filled with Mayan-inspired glyphs and patterns replacing a traditional center stripe.

The helmets will have the pitchfork logo on each side in gold.

The Sun Devils will also be wearing maroon jerseys, bottoms and shoes as part of their Maroon Monsoon uniform combination.

The jerseys contain gold numbers and letters with black trim on each side. The Arizona state flag shadow is on the chest.

Three of the next four ASU games are in Tempe. Friday’s matchup against the Cardinal will kick off at 7:30 p.m.
