Phoenix Suns head coach Monty Williams said pregame that shooting guard Devin Booker is making his preseason debut on Wednesday against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Booker had previously missed the team’s last three preseason games. He came down with COVID-19 a week before training camp started, and after an extended season with the NBA Finals and 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the Suns have been smart with his ramp-up.
Williams had said after practice leading up to the game that he projects his rotation to be leaning toward more minutes for the guys on the back-end of the rotation, so it shouldn’t be much of a minutes load for Booker.
The 24-year-old Booker is coming off his second straight All-Star season, averaging 25.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game, shooting 48.4% from the field.
The Suns take on the Blazers at 2 p.m., a game you can hear on ESPN 620 AM / 98.7 FM HD-2.
