Ahead of the Pac-12 South clash between Utah and Arizona State, the Sun Devils added heart-shaped helmet decals to honor two Utes players in Aaron Lowe and Ty Jordan, who both passed over the last year.

Utah first lost its running back in Jordan at the conclusion of last year due to an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound on Christmas night in 2020. Before his passing, he was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the year.

This season, Utah started the Ty Jordan Memorial Scholarship. The first-ever recipient of the award was Aaron Lowe.

Lowe was a sophomore cornerback from Texas who had totaled three tackles on the year. He was shot exactly nine months to the day after his teammate.

The two were good friends as Lowe even wore Jordan’s jersey No. 22 for Utah.

The helmet decal is formed as the number 22 with the initials T.J. and A.L.

The two men were also honored on ESPN’s College Gameday with a piece that showed how special their bond truly was.

The game against Arizona State will be Utah’s second game and first home contest at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City since the passing of Lowe.
