Arizona State went back to its old ways of committing penalties and playing undisciplined football, losing to Utah 35-21 on Saturday.
In the last game the Sun Devils played in the state of Utah, they committed 16 penalties and four turnovers in a 27-17 loss to the BYU Cougars. Saturday night got off to another sloppy start for ASU.
The offensive line committed five penalties, including a crucial third-down false start. Seven of the eight penalties in the first half for the Sun Devils were committed by the offense for 50 yards.
The Sun Devils committed 13 penalties for 115 on the night.
On top of the flags, ASU tight end Curtis Hodges fumbled the ball on Utah’s 34-yard line, killing yet another drive.
Although the offense has had issues, Jayden Daniels has had success passing the ball, completing 20-of-31 for 237 yards and two touchdowns. He also has 14 carries for 32 yards and a rushing score.
Utah committed five penalties for 45 yards, one that did negate a first-down play.
