The Arizona Cardinals signed defensive lineman Josh Mauro to the practice squad on Tuesday, the team announced.
Mauro was with the Cardinals during training camp until he was released in late August.
The 30-year old started 26 games and played in 47 total for the Cardinals from 2014-17, totaling 70 tackles, two sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
The Stanford graduate has also played for the New York Giants, Oakland Raiders and Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad.
In his time with the Giants, he played in 12 games, totaling 28 tackles and a sack.
With the Raiders, Mauro started seven of the 13 games he played in, registering 19 tackles and a pass deflection.
Mauro has been suspended twice for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs. He was suspended for four games in 2018 with the Giants and for five games in 2020 with the Jaguars.
The Cardinals are looking for additional defensive line depth as Zach Allen and Corey Peters are both on the COVID-19 list. Additionally, Rashard Lawrence left Sunday’s game against the Browns with a calf injury.
