Arizona Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill believes additional leadership has been a difference-maker from last season to this year’s team.

The hype for a Thursday Night Football game may not have ever been higher as Arizona has an opportunity to reach its first 8-0 record in franchise history, hosting the 6-1 Green Bay Packers.

Most fans did not predict the undefeated start to the season, but Bidwill explained on KTAR News 92.3 FM’s The Mike Broomhead Show that having the right mix of veterans and young players has benefitted the team greatly.

“I think it’s everyone across the board,” Bidwill said. “Certainly, J.J. (Watt) has done a lot, but you’ve seen the great leadership we have got from coach Kingsbury, especially when he was absent. Putting together that great game plan for his staff to execute.”

“Kyler Murray, you can’t say enough about the leadership he has grown into in his third year, he just keeps taking these huge steps each year. You’ve got leaders like A.J. Green, DeAndre Hopkins, on defense, Budda Baker and Chandler Jones.”

The Cardinals’ owner also said he is not surprised Kyler Murray has grown into the player he is today.

“When you think about his first year, he was Offensive Rookie of the Year in the NFL,” said Bidwill. “In his second year, he made the Pro Bowl and beat out some really big names in the NFC to be that third quarterback. This year in the offseason he has done everything.”

Catch the Cardinals vs. Packers Thursday night action at 5:20 p.m. on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station.
