Arizona Diamondbacks left fielder David Peralta was named a Gold Glove award finalist for the 2021 season, Rawlings Baseball announced Thursday.
Peralta joins fellow finalists St. Louis Cardinals’ Tyler O’Neill and former Diamondback and current Los Angeles Dodger, A.J. Pollock. Ex-Arizona pitcher Zack Greinke was named a finalist in the American League for the Houston Astros.
The Gold Glove is given to the infielders and outfielders who have played in the field for at least 713 total innings through their team’s 142nd game, according to the Rawlings website.
The D-backs left fielder previously won the Gold Glove in 2019, a year after winning the Silver Slugger award. He joined Pollock, Gerardo Parra and Steve Finley as the only Arizona outfielders to win the defensive award.
Peralta had two outfield assists this past season and a .989 fielding percentage.
The 34-year-old is signed on for one more year with the D-backs before entering the unrestricted free agent market if he is not extended. He will make $8 million dollars in the last year of his contract.
Through eight seasons with Arizona, Peralta has a .286 batting average, 98 home runs and 427 RBI.
