Hopkins’ 55-yard catch sets up Edmonds for Cardinals’ opening TD vs. Packers

The Arizona Cardinals offense picked up right where it left off on Thursday Night Football to kick off Week 8.

Hosting the Green Bay Packers at State Farm Stadium, wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins had another “better catch by I” moment on his first catch of the game.

With 8:18 to go in the first quarter, Cardinals QB Kyler Murray heaved a deep shot downfield that was caught by Hopkins after a double-move left him wide open.

Unfortunately for Arizona, a facemask penalty on Hopkins during his stiff arm attempt negated what would’ve been the opening touchdown of the game.

Cardinals fans didn’t have to wait long, however, as Arizona take the lead over Green Bay just four plays later.

With 6:17 left in the opening quarter, running back Chase Edmonds took a direct snap in a wildcat formation and rushed it up the middle an 11-yard score.

Cardinals kicker Matt Prater hit the PAT to give Arizona a 7-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Hopkins left the game after the scoring drive, though, and is questionable to return as the Packers took a 10-7 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Arizona will receive the second half kickoff.
