The Arizona Cardinals have activated defensive lineman Corey Peters from the reserve/COVID-19 list and released offensive lineman Zack Johnson, the team announced Friday.
Landing on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Oct. 17, Peters hasn’t played since the Cardinals’ win over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 5.
The veteran lineman has registered four tackles in 2021, as well as a recovered fumble in Week 1.
The Cardinals are getting Peters back in the defensive trenches at just the right time. With fellow defensive lineman J.J. Watt reportedly expected to miss the remainder of the season, Arizona could use Peters to clog things up in the middle.
In the Cardinals’ 24-21 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Thursday, they allowed 151 yards rushing on 34 attempts.
As for Johnson, the second-year pro was signed to the active roster from the practice squad prior to Thursday’s game, due to injuries along the Cardinals’ offensive line.
Johnson signed with the Cardinals practice squad after playing with the Packers during the preseason. The undrafted free agent spent his entire rookie season on the Packers’ practice squad in 2020.
