The Arizona Cardinals vs. Green Bay Packers game gathered an audience of 20.4 million people across all platforms, making it the third highest Thursday Night Football viewership in the history of it being aired on FOX, according to NFL communications.

The game ranks only behind New Orleans Saints vs. Dallas Cowboys in 2018 (22.2 million) and Minnesota Vikings vs. Saints on Christmas Day in 2020 (20.5 million).

According to the NFL, the 20.4 million viewers is up 67% from last year’s Week 8 TNF matchup between the Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers (12.2 million), and up 44% versus the 2020 TNF 11-game average (14.1 million).

TNF games on FOX, NFL Network and Amazon Prime Video are averaging 15.8 million viewers, up 24% to the same point of last season (12.7 million).

The contest may have seen a boost in ratings because of the two teams having a combined record of 13-1. Many Thursday night games to this point in the season have been between teams with below .500 records.

The Cardinals will travel to San Francisco to take on the 49ers after a few extra days off at 2:25 p.m. on Sunday. Catch all the action on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station.
