It took Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker fewer than three quarters to pass his season-high in points Saturday night against the Atlanta Hawks.
Booker scored his 32nd point with over two minutes remaining in the third, doing so on just 18 shots.
He finished with 38 points in Phoenix’s 121-117 comeback win.
When needed down the stretch, Booker stepped up for Phoenix with six points in the final 3:31. He found forward Jae Crowder cutting on a fast break for a layup to give the Suns a three-point lead with 19 seconds left.
Booker had not gotten off to the hottest start this year, scoring 22.6 points per game on 41% shooting through seven games.
But on Saturday, he found his rhythm on all three levels.
He hit five of nine threes while also getting to the rim. Most of his buckets, though, came from mid range.
Booker had been heating up with at least 27 points in three of his last four games, but Saturday’s effort was his most efficient.
He scored his 38 on just 21 shots. He also had four assists and six rebounds.
The Suns have now won four games in a row to improve to 5-3.
Phoenix heads back on the road Monday at the Sacramento Kings. Tip off is at 8 p.m. and you can listen in at 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station.
