The redshirt junior from California stepped foot in Tempe in 2019, choosing ASU over Notre Dame, Texas A&M, Tennessee and Utah.
The speedster came out of high school clocking a 4.40 second 40-yard dash time, but never found his groove inside the Sun Devil offense.
He recorded 14 receptions for 250 yards over three years for the Sun Devils, including his catch for 47 yards against UCLA this season.
Porter’s lone touchdown in an ASU uniform came in the 2020 matchup against Oregon State where he was able to showcase his speed, connecting with Jayden Daniels for a 63-yard touchdown.
Porter said that the change in position coaches and offensive coordinators played a role in his lack of consistency, but thanked the staff for strong guidance. He also added that he will graduate from ASU in December, yet has two years of eligibility left.
Arizona State has struggled to move the ball at times this season, with Daniels more than doubling (seven) his interceptions from the previous two years combined (three).
