Suns center Deandre Ayton, guard Landry Shamet out vs. Blazers

Phoenix Suns center Deandre Ayton will miss his third straight game on Wednesday night against the Portland Trail Blazers due to a right leg contusion.
Guard Landry Shamet is also out because of a right foot contusion, head coach Monty Williams said pregame.
Ayton will be out for Wednesday night’s contest at Footprint Center after the contusion kept him out for one game on Nov. 2, only for him to return on Thursday before not playing in the Suns’ last two victories.
Reserve center JaVale McGee has started in Ayton’s place for all three of those games.
Ayton has averaged 14.2 points and 11.3 rebounds per game in six appearances this season.
Shamet had recently come on strong, scoring a total of 40 points in his last three games after just 27 in his first six outings as a member of the Suns.
On the season, the reserve guard is posting 7.3 points per game in 16.9 minutes a night.
Unlike Ayton and guard Cam Payne, who both have missed time, Shamet doesn’t exactly have a direct backup for Williams to replace him with.
With Shamet missing his first game of the season, it could mean more minutes for Payne and the reserve wing duo of Cam Johnson and Abdel Nader.
Wednesday’s game in Phoenix against the Blazers starts at 7 p.m. and is a tip-off you can hear on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station.
