The Arizona Cardinals on Monday released running back Tavien Feaster from the active roster, as well as practice squad defensive lineman Matt Dickerson and receiver Darrius Shepherd.

Feaster, a 23-year-old out of South Carolina, joined the Cardinals for training camp and the preseason but didn’t make the 53-man roster. He then re-joined the team’s practice squad on Oct. 5.

Because Arizona moved starting running back Chase Edmonds to the injured reserve, Feaster was signed to the active roster on Saturday before Arizona’s 34-10 loss to the Carolina Panthers. He played four special teams snaps Sunday.

While Edmonds will miss at least two more games, the release of Feaster could hint at more depth in the running back room this coming week, a road game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Second-year pro Jonathan Ward has not played since Oct. 28 against the Green Bay Packers due to a concussion suffered on return coverage in that loss.

He was not moved to injured reserve and could provide depth behind starter James Conner and fellow second-year man Eno Benjamin, who has played about a quarter of the offensive snaps in the past two weeks.
