While the Phoenix Suns are in the midst of a nine-game winning streak, the team seems be doing all the small things right and playing as a collective unit.

Joining Arizona Sports’ Burns & Gambo on Tuesday, Suns forward Jae Crowder reiterated how well the team is playing together.

“We are just playing good basketball as a unit,” Crowder said.

A lot of that stems from the Suns overall communication, especially on defense according to Crowder. He said during the win-streak, they’ve been on the same page defensively, which can make them a tough team to score on.

He said the the Suns’ defensive struggles in the season came mostly off of lack of communication and mishaps, something the team has cleaned up significantly.

Comparing this team with the one that made the NBA Finals last season, Crowder thinks they can be better, but knows how special of a group that team was.

“I just think we were a special group because we did everything collectively … you had to have a complete team to beat us,” he said.

Crowder also revealed one of the main reasons he decided to join the Suns prior to last season.

That being the team acquiring point guard Chris Paul.

“It was almost ultimately the main reason, other than me knowing Book (Devin Booker) and knowing what they did the bubble,” he said. “I know what he can do for me and I know what he can do for the team, so it became a no-brainer.”

On this year’s team, the forward said the group continues to grow each game. Win or loss, the goal for the Suns each game is to get better.

“You got guys who are just making the days count and that’s a great sign,” Crowder said.

The Suns look to extend their win-streak to 10 games on Wednesday night against the Dallas Mavericks. You can catch all the action on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station.
