Arizona junior center Christian Koloko was named the Pac-12’s Player of the Week on Monday, the conference announced.
Koloko averaged 17.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 4.0 blocks per game in the Wildcats’ two victories during the Roman Main Event tournament, including an upset of No. 4 Michigan in the final. The junior’s performance earned him MVP honors for the tournament.
In that final game against the Wolverines, Koloko matched up with All-American center Hunter Dickinson and played a part in limiting him to a season-low 11 points on 4-of-10 shooting and scored a career-high 22 points of his own.
The honor for Koloko from the Pac-12 is a first for his career and the first for a Wildcat this season.
Arizona jumped from unranked to No. 17 in the AP Poll on Monday. The Wildcats are the second-highest rated Pac-12 club, behind No. 2 UCLA Bruins (4-0). The USC Trojans moved up to No. 24 in the rankings after appearing at 25th last week in the poll.
