ASU’s possible bowl destinations split between San Diego, Las Vegas

Arizona State’s 38-15 Territorial Cup win over Arizona on Saturday did nothing to end the debate on which bowl game the Sun Devils will play in this bowl season.
With the regular season over, all ASU can do with its 8-4 record is wait to see which bowl game gives it an invitation.
Either Oregon or Utah will represent the Pac-12 in the Rose Bowl, depending on the result of Friday’s Pac-12 Championship Game. The loser of that game will likely compete in the Valero Alamo Bowl.
Projections for ASU are a split decision this week between the SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl and the San Diego County Credit Union Holiday Bowl.
Both of these games are next up in an informal selection order between the Pac-12’s bowl games.
ASU and UCLA both have 8-4 records with 6-3 records in conference play. The Sun Devils’ win over the Bruins back on Oct. 2 likely gives ASU an advantage.
The Sun Devils may also be at an disadvantage in head-to-head situations. Washington State, like ASU, finished Pac-12 play with a 6-3 record. The Cougars defeated the Sun Devils in Tempe back on Oct. 30.
Despite having the head-to-head advantage, WSU has one less win on its overall record of 7-5.
The Sun Devils have the advantage in both overall record and conference record over Oregon State. However, the Beavers (7-5, 5-4) defeated ASU in Corvallis two weekends ago, 24-10.
In whatever bowl game ASU is selected to take part in, it will do so without the services of redshirt senior running back Rachaad White. He said on the Pac-12 Network after Saturday’s game against Arizona that he will not play in ASU’s bowl game.
Here are some where some of the most prominent projections are placing the Sun Devils along with some possible matchups to look forward to.
