With the NFL season winding down, the race for season awards is fully on and Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury finds his name centered around the NFL Coach of the Year discussion.

With that being said, Kingsbury is paying no mind to his chances at the award and seemingly casted his own vote for New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.

“They should just name the award Bill Belichick and when he retires bring that back,” Kingsbury said on Thursday. “Until he retires I don’t think any one else should get that award, honestly. He should be that every single year that he’s coaching.”

Fast forward to Monday, where Belichick was giving Kingsbury his flowers for the job he’s done in Arizona this season.

“That’s very nice of Kliff to toss that bouquet,” he said as a guest on The Greg Hill Show“I’ll toss it right back. Kliff has done a great job and should be the Coach of the Year.”

That’s quite the vote of confidence for Kingsbury, as his Cardinals are atop the NFC with a 10-2 record heading into Monday Night Football against the Los Angeles Rams.

Belichick has been praised for the job he’s done in New England this year with rookie quarterback Mac Jones, having the Patriots leading the AFC with a 9-4 record.

The two coaches are both the odds on favorites to win NFL Coach of the Year, according to the FanDuel Sportsbook. Belichick (+150) is the betting favorite, while Kingsbury (+300) is right behind him.

Belichick even spent time as Kingsbury’s coach, as the Cardinals head man was on the Patriots roster in 2003.

Kickoff between the Cardinals and Rams is set for 6:15 p.m. on Monday. Listen live on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station.
