Another dominant week on the court means for more awards for Arizona Wildcats guard Bennedict Mathurin as he was named Pac-12 Player of the Week for a second consecutive week.

Mathurin had quite the week scoring the basketball, going for a team-high 30 points in the Wildcats win over Illinois on the road Saturday. He also grabbed seven rebounds, as Arizona left Champaign, IL. with a 83-79 win.

His performance Saturday against the Fighting Illini was just picking up where he left off after Wednesday’s win over Wyoming. Mathurin was the Wildcats leading scorer in that one as well, dropping 24 points while having 10 rebounds and five assists.

Mathurin becomes the first player in the conference to win Player of the Week honors in consecutive weeks since Arizona State’s Tra Holder did so in the 2017-18 season. He becomes the 23rd player to repeat the award in conference history.

He joins Hassan Adams (2005-06) and Steve Kerr (1987-88) as the only Arizona players to repeat the weekly award.

In his last three games, Mathurin is averaging 27 points and seven boards, all while shooting 60% from the field.
