The Arizona Cardinals placed punter Andy Lee on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Wednesday.
Lee was among a list of 33 total players across the NFL who reportedly tested positive and were placed on the list as a result, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
The Cardinals punter has an opportunity to return for the Week 16 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday, per Darren Urban.
However, Urban also reports that Arizona will have to sign another punter just in case Lee doesn’t test negative prior to Christmas.
Lee isn’t the only Cardinal currently under the NFL’s COVID-19 protocols.
Center Rodney Hudson missed Sunday’s 30-12 loss at the Detroit Lions after being placed on the list for the second time this calendar year.
He had previously been placed on the list during training camp prior to the start of the 2021 season.
Under the NFL’s new COVID-19 protocols, a vaccinated player can return to the gridiron after testing negative just once.
Prior to the league updating its rules, all players had to have consecutive negative COVID-19 tests that were taken 24 hours apart.
