Arizona Cardinals left tackle D.J. Humphries was placed on the COVID-19 reserve list on Thursday ahead of a game against the Dallas Cowboys, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.
The news puts Arizona’s coaching staff into puzzle-solving mode, though it has options.
While third-year pro Josh Miles is the next man up, he has appeared in only 20 offensive snaps this season.
The team could also move right tackle Kelvin Beachum to the left side, where he spent the large majority of his career.
Second-year man Josh Jones entered the pros as a tackle but has primarily played right guard this season. If the Cardinals moved Beachum to the left side, he could be an option at right tackle with Max Garcia starting at right guard.
As far as emergency depth, starting left guard Justin Pugh has also dabbled at right tackle in his time with the Cardinals.
Humphries is not the only Arizona player on the COVID-19 reserve.
Linebacker Devon Kennard was placed on the list Wednesday.
He joins linebacker Markus Golden and offensive lineman Sean Harlow, who were both placed on the list on Monday.
NFL officials announced Tuesday evening they had reached agreement with the NFLPA on following the CDC’s revised quarantine guidelines, with the decision allowing players previously required to sit out 10 days to come back as soon as five.
