The Arizona State Sun Devils are hiring Missouri’s Aaron Fletcher as the team’s new defensive backs coach, the program announced Wednesday.
The Athletic’s Doug Haller first reported the hiring on Jan. 13.
Fletcher takes the role that was originally held by Chris Hawkins, who was placed on administrative leave while the NCAA’s investigation into ASU took place. Hawkins was replaced by Donnie Henderson on an interim basis, and Haller reports Henderson will likely remain with the Sun Devils.
Arizona State adds Fletcher after just one season for the coach with the Tigers. Fletcher had previously spent the last six seasons with Tulsa’s secondary, where he coached a top-10 pass defense in 2018.
Fletcher also coached cornerback Reggie Robinson II, who went on to become the Golden Hurricanes’ first NFL Draft pick in 10 years after being picked in the fourth round of the 2020 draft by the Dallas Cowboys.
The Sun Devils are coming off an 8-5 2021 campaign.
