Tyson, the great-grandson of legendary Alabama coach Paul “Bear” Bryant, served as the the backup to Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young, the Crimson Tide’s signal caller.
In 2021, Tyson completed 10 of his 16 passes for 150 yards and was Alabama’s primary holder in the kicking department.
Tyson entered the transfer portal on Tuesday, following Alabama’s loss in the National Championship to Georgia.
As a recruit, Tyson was ranked as the No. 12 pro-style quarterback in the country for the class of 2019, according to 247Sports.
The Alabama native racked up offers from the likes of LSU, Oregon, USC and Michigan amongst others as a recruit.
Tyson joins an ASU quarterback room that returns starting quarterback Jayden Daniels for his senior season.
He becomes the second player to transfer to the Sun Devils this week, after Wyoming running back transfer Xazavian Valladay announced his commitment Tuesday.
The 6-foot-5, 228-pound quarterback has three years of remaining eligibility.
