The Arizona Cardinals will be selecting No. 23 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft after the team’s 34-11 Wild Card loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night.
The position was locked in after the Dallas Cowboys (12-6) finished as the only team with a better record than the Cardinals (11-7) out of the six teams eliminated in the Wild Card round.
Arizona stood alone at the top of the standings with the best record in football heading into Week 14 at 10-2 before the poor finish.
There is a silver lining in the NFC West, however, as the Cardinals will be the only team in the division with a 2022 first-round selection.
That’s because the Rams sent theirs to the Detroit Lions for Matthew Stafford, the Seattle Seahawks traded theirs to the New York Jets for Jamal Adams and the San Francisco 49ers sent theirs to the Miami Dolphins for the No. 3 overall pick in 2021, which they used to draft Trey Lance.
The Jacksonville Jaguars will be drafting No. 1 overall with the Lions, Houston Texans, Jets and New York Giants rounding out the first five selections.
The 2022 NFL Draft will take place April 28-30 in Las Vegas.
