Arizona Cardinals linebacker Jordan Hicks and tight end Zach Ertz both have uncertain futures with the team entering the offseason.

Hicks met with reporters on Tuesday and was asked about his future in the Valley. He has one year left on his contract.

“We’ll see, we’ll see,” Hicks said. “We will see how it all shakes out. I am not ready to answer that question right now.”

He did not comment on if he would re-up the trade request that was put in last offseason when rookie Zaven Collins was named the starter at middle linebacker following the draft.

Although Collins was named the starter, Hicks was featured in fewer than 90% of the defensive snaps just one time all year in Week 7 where he saw 64% (36).

Collins saw over 50% of defensive snaps just two times in Week 5 (52%) and Week 7 (57%).

Ertz was acquired midseason via trade after tight end Maxx Williams went down for the year with a knee injury. Arizona sent the Philadelphia Eagles rookie corner Tay Gowan and a 2022 fifth-round pick.

He is an impending free agent.

The tight end was also posed the question about potentially returning to the team, but similar to his former Eagles teammate in Hicks, the loss was still fresh on his mind.

“Obviously things are so new I haven’t really thought about it,” Ertz said. “I have loved my time here in Arizona. I would love the opportunity to continue here.

“There is a lot of things out of my control and we have a lot of good players that are free agents as well, it may not be up to me. It has been a blessing to be able to be here, I have truly loved it.”

Ertz caught 56 passes for 574 yards and three touchdowns in 11 games in Arizona.
