Williams ready for competition in Cardinals backfield

PHOENIX – Many were shocked when the Arizona Cardinals selected running back Ryan Williams in the second round and wondered if he would find playing time with holdovers Beanie Wells and Tim Hightower still on the roster.

Williams is confident he will find his way onto the field.

“I feel like it’s going to competition just like any other team. When you’re a new guy coming in, there’s going to be competition with the guys that was there before,” said Williams on the Sports 620 KTAR’s Gambo and Ash show.

“Nothing against those guys, but I’m going to try to work my butt off and get on the field.”

Despite being drafted by a team where he will have to battle for playing time, Williams was ecstatic to become a Cardinal.

“After all my workouts, if I had it my way and was able to choose any team I would play for, it would’ve been the Cardinals. I was happy they loved me just as much as I loved them,” said Williams.
