Forward Azuolas Tubelis returns for No. 3 Arizona against No. 7 UCLA

Jan 25, 2022, 9:31 PM

The No. 3 Arizona Wildcats returned a key contributor for Tuesday night’s showdown against No. 7 UCLA, as forward Azuolas Tubelis was back on the court after missing the team’s last game with an ankle injury.

Tubelis didn’t get the start for the Wildcats, but came in off the bench at the 12-minute mark of the first half.

He missed Arizona’s game against California on Sunday, but the Wildcats had no issues without his services, beating the Golden Bears 96-71.

The forward suffered the injury against Stanford last Thursday and only played seven minutes in the win. He was coming off his best game of the season, scoring 32 points against Utah on Jan. 15.

Tubelis was named to the Preseason Pac-12 Second Team and has lived up to the label. The sophomore is averaging 15.1 points per game to go with 6.1 rebounds.

The Wildcats get Tubelis back at the right time, facing the Bruins for the top spot in the Pac-12 standings.

UCLA has won its last three conference games after losing to Oregon on Jan. 13, while Arizona is 6-0 to start conference play.
