Donations pour in for Josh Allen’s charity after epic Chiefs-Bills game

The NFL playoffs gave fans an unbelievable showing last weekend with numerous games coming down to the wire.

Of the close games, none came close to the back and forth seen at Arrowhead Stadium between the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills.

Just as it looked quarterback Josh Allen and the Bills had moved onto the AFC Championship game after scoring a touchdown with 13 seconds left to play, Chiefs signal caller Patrick Mahomes was able to get his team into field-goal range and force overtime.

Kansas City wasted little time ending things in OT with Mahomes connecting with tight end Travis Kelce for a touchdown on the opening possession.

It was crushing blow for Allen, who threw for 329 yards and four touchdowns on 73% passing (27 of 37).

But while it certainly wasn’t the outcome Allen or Buffalo wanted to see, there was a silver lining to the defeat.

After the game, a suggestion to Chiefs fans to donate to Allen’s charity, The Patricia Allen Fund, that benefits the John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital in Buffalo quickly took off as donations of $13, commemorating the Chiefs drive to force overtime, came pouring in.

And despite the game taking place nearly a week ago, the foundation continues to see game-inspired donations.

As of Friday morning, the hospital had seen more than $400,000 in donations from nearly 18,000 people.
