Arizona Cardinals left tackle D.J. Humphries was named to his first career Pro Bowl on Monday as a replacement for Dallas Cowboys lineman Tyron Smith, who had dealt with knee and ankle injuries toward the end of the season.
Humphries will join four Arizona teammates at the Pro Bowl. Quarterback Kyler Murray, outside linebacker Chandler Jones, running back James Conner and safety Budda Baker will also play for the NFC team Sunday at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
Humphries is the first offensive lineman to represent the Cardinals in the Pro Bowl since guard Mike Iupati did so in 2015. He is the franchise’s first Pro Bowl tackle since Lomas Brown made the roster in 1996.
The 24th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, Humphries did not play as a rookie and struggled with injuries in his third and fourth pro seasons before finding traction at the end of his rookie deal. He’s appeared in all 16 regular season games in the past three seasons and was named captain for the past two years.
Now with five players in the Pro Bowl, Arizona has its most representation in the All-Star game since the 2015 season.
The 2022 Pro Bowl kicks off at 1 p.m. Sunday and will air on ABC and ESPN.
