Phoenix Suns point guard Chris Paul was awarded Western Conference Player of the Week on Monday.
It marks the 14th time the point guard been named a player of the week and the first time since 2017.
In Week 15 of the NBA season (four games), Paul averaged 22.3 points, 12.8 assists and 7.5 rebounds over 38.5 minutes of work per game. He shot 54.2% from the field and 58.8% from long range.
Paul scored at least 20 points in each of the contests, his longest such streak of games since the 2017-18 season.
Behind Paul and Suns guard Devin Booker, the Suns went a perfect 4-0 over that span despite the likes of center Deandre Ayton and forward Jae Crowder missing time due to injury.
Paul ended the week with a bang in a 115-110 comeback over the San Antonio Spurs, recording 20 points and a season-high 19 assists, the most by any NBA player this season. He also added eight boards in the winning effort.
With Paul’s help, Phoenix has notched its second 10-game winning streak of the season, the first being an 18-game stretch earlier in the year. It marks the second time in franchise history the team has had at least two 10-game winning streaks in a single season.
This season (49 games), Paul is averaging 14.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and an NBA-leading 10.3 assists over 32.9 minutes per contest.
The Suns take on the Brooklyn Nets at 8 p.m. on Tuesday night. Tune to 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station for all the action.
