The Arizona Cardinals and 29 other NFL teams already have their sights squarely on the offseason with the Super Bowl a week away.

Arizona has more than a handful of decisions to make when it comes down to free agency, potential contract extensions and the 2022 NFL Draft.

In terms of what tools they have to work with, ESPN ranked the Cardinals 26th in the league when comparing offseason capital.

ESPN used a formula that took into account salary cap space, draft picks and the approximate value of each team’s draft class.

Garnering a draft capital AV sum of 61.9, Arizona could see up to eight draft picks this offseason, including its first-round pick at No. 23.

Potentially adding to the offseason checklist is whether or not the Cardinals should sign quarterback Kyler Murray to a contract extension.

The Cardinals have five of their own draft picks, but Over The Cap projects them to get three more compensatory selections. One of the biggest decisions they need to make is whether they want to try to sign quarterback Kyler Murray to a contract extension. He has two more years remaining on his rookie deal, assuming the Cardinals pick up his 2023 fifth-year option, but his price is likely to go up if they wait.

Since joining the team in 2019 as the No. 1 overall draft pick, Murray has seen steady improvement.

Over 14 games in 2021, Murray completed a career high 69.2% of his passes for 3,787 yards and 24 touchdowns. He also saw his interceptions drop from 12 in each of the last two seasons to 10 this past season.

And despite seeing a career low in rushing attempts with 88, Murray still managed to record 423 yards and five scores on the ground.
