Arizona Wildcats forward Azuolas Tubelis became the third member of his team to win the Pac-12 Player of the Week honor this regular season after his performances against the Los Angeles area schools.
Tubelis averaged 16 points and eight rebounds per game as the Wildcats defeated then-No. 3 UCLA and previous No. 19-ranked USC this past week. He shot 54% between the two games.
It’s Tubelis’ first conference player of the week nod, though he won Pac-12 Freshman of the Week twice last season.
Arizona center Christian Koloko won the Pac-12 Player of the Week award on Nov. 22, while wing Bennedict Mathurin twice earned the honor on Dec. 6 and Dec. 13.
Tubelis’ performances this week were highlighted by an 18-point, 11-rebound game against the Bruins on Thursday.
They came with his Lithuania mother, Valentina, in attendance. It was her first trip to the United States.
For the season, the 6-foot-11 Tubelis is averaging 14.4 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game on 55% shooting.
The Wildcats this week face Arizona State on Monday at 7 p.m. before visiting Washington State on Thursday and Washington on Saturday.
The Arizona-ASU rivalry game in Tempe will air on ESPN 620 AM and 98.7 FM HD-2.
