Important NFL dates to remember and how they impact Arizona Cardinals

The NFL offseason continues to roll on.

With the NFL Combine, annual league meetings, 2022 NFL Draft, OTAs and minicamp now just a memory, it’s time to turn our attention to training camp as teams start begin getting down to the nitty-gritty of roster construction.

Before the position battles really start to heat up, here’s a look at important NFL dates to remember and how they correlate with the Arizona Cardinals:

Important NFL dates

July 21

Cardinals rookies report to training camp.

July 26

Cardinals veterans report to training camp.

August 12

Preseason Week 1 against the Cincinnati Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium. It’ll be the first game back to Cincinnati for wide receiver A.J. Green, who was drafted fourth overall in the 2011 NFL Draft by the Bengals.

August 16

Roster reduction from 90 to 85 players.

August 21

Preseason Week 2 against the Baltimore Ravens at State Farm Stadium. It’ll mark the first time Marquise Brown faces his former team since being traded to Arizona on draft day. Brown was taken 25th overall by the Ravens in the 2019 NFL Draft.

August 23

Roster reduction from 85 to 80 players.

August 27

Preseason Week 3 against the Tennessee Titans at Nissan Stadium. During the regular season last year, Arizona dismantled Tennessee 38-13 behind a four-touchdown effort from quarterback Kyler Murray.

August 30

Roster reduction from 80 to 53 players

Sept. 11

Week 1 against the Kansas City Chiefs. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury takes on his former college quarterback in Patrick Mahomes. In their final season at Texas Tech together (2016), the pair went 5-7.
